Explosion Vent Panel

Combustible dusts and gases in handling equipment can deflagrate, and an unvented enclosure fails at whatever pressure its weakest seam allows. Explosion vent panels provide the designed relief path: the panel opens at a low set pressure and vents the deflagration before the enclosure ruptures. Typical installations include dust collectors, air scrubbers, sieves, bucket elevators, dryers, silos, spreaders and screens.

The Continental Disc Corporation (CDC) vent panel range covers burst pressures from 0.07 to 0.69 barg (1 to 10 psig) across five series: prebulged composite circular panels (CFC, 250 to 760 mm diameter), prebulged solid metal circular panels (SFC, 250 to 910 mm), composite formed rectangular and square panels (CFR and CFS), flat composite panels in 316 stainless steel with TFE seal (CP series), and flat scored aluminium panels with epoxy coating (VP series) in square, rectangular and circular formats. Full vacuum and wind load protection options are available across the range.

Panel sizing depends on the vessel volume and strength, the dust or gas explosibility characteristics (Kst or Kg and Pmax), the relief area and the discharge arrangement, so check the selection against the site dust hazard analysis. Measurement Solutions supplies the CDC vent panel range in Australia with application engineering support from our technical experts. Send the vessel details and dust data for sizing support and quotation.
