A rupture disc only bursts within its certified tolerance if it is seated correctly. The holder positions and clamps the disc between the pipe flanges, controls the seating load and protects the disc dome during installation, so an incorrectly matched or incorrectly torqued holder is a common cause of premature failure or a disc that does not open at its marked pressure.
The Continental Disc Corporation (CDC) range includes holders for standard piping, miniature systems and hygienic connections. The QUICK-CHANGE holder assembly uses pressure actuated static seals for changeouts in seconds, and the UNISERT flat seat holder serves MICRO X and composite discs. Miniature assemblies include the reusable SRA screw-type holder rated to 1,034 barg (15,000 psig) and the disposable TITE-SEAL for systems below 207 barg (3,000 psig). Accessories include heat shields that reduce the process temperature reaching the disc, double disc assemblies for redundant relief, the Clean Sweep assembly, the ENVIRO GUARD pipe end cover, and MBC multiple bolt sanitary closures for hygienic connections.
