Tension Acting Rupture Disc

For steady-state processes with a comfortable margin between operating and relief pressure, a tension-acting (forward-acting) rupture disc is often the simplest and most economical relief device. The disc dome faces the process and bursts in tension within its certified tolerance, delivering instantaneous, full-opening relief in gas, vapour or liquid service.

The Continental Disc Corporation (CDC) tension-acting range runs from general-purpose discs to purpose-built designs. The solid metal Standard disc handles general overpressure protection, the MICRO X cross-scored disc opens in a controlled non-fragmenting four petal pattern, and composite discs with optional vacuum supports serve narrower operating margins. The direct mount CDC-DM and CDCV-DM composite discs have a maximum recommended operating ratio of 80 per cent and burst ratings from 0.13 to 4.06 barg (2 to 59 psig). They carry the ASME UD stamp, are CE marked under the Pressure Equipment Directive, and fit ASME 150, DIN PN6 and JIS 10K weld neck flanges. Purpose-built designs include the Tanksert for tank protection, the ENVIRO-SEAL, and the SF6 switchgear disc with a 90 per cent maximum recommended operating ratio, zero manufacturing range and non-fragmenting opening. Selection and installation follow AS 1358.
