The 10000 Series proximity probes and cables from Metrix are non-contact displacement sensors built for the installed base of older 3000 Series vibration transducers, where shaft vibration and rotor position must be measured on turbines, compressors and other rotating machinery. Each probe is dimensioned in inches and matched to a same-series extension cable so the combined length equals the required system length specified in feet.
The probe tip is moulded from Ryton and carried in a Series 300 stainless steel case, available in forward mount, smooth case and reverse mount styles. The coaxial signal cable uses Tefzel insulation for maximum abrasion resistance and holds a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, with ProxMatch colour and alphanumeric coding that keeps each probe, cable and system length correctly paired. The assembly operates from -40°C to +177°C against a standard 4140 steel target, complies with API 670 and carries third-party and ATEX approvals for use in hazardous areas.
Probes are offered with 0.190 in. or 0.300 in. tip diameters, imperial or metric case threads, and a wide range of unthreaded, case and probe lengths, in armored or unarmored form. Reverse mount versions use a stinger together with the Model 5499 mounting adaptor to reach targets with restricted access, while flexible Series 300 stainless steel armor adds cable protection where needed.
